How long to go to Guadalajara for, from Sacramento

3h 50m in the air, 1,661 miles. A two-night trip loses most of two days to travel; three or four nights is where this one starts to make sense.

Guadalajara is the capital of the central state of Jalisco in Mexico, and the second-largest city in the country, with about a million and a half citizens in the core city and about 5.2 million in the metropolitan area. It is considered a colonial city, though much of its architecture dates from the independence period. Although it has a far more relaxed feel than Mexico City, the city center can still seem a bit stuffy and dusty, especially during rush hour when the sun is out. All in all, however, it is a lovely city and contains many nice areas for walking, not just in the center.
